FAQ Table of ContentsAfter I exit the installation program that displays any obsolete DLLs on my system, nothing happens! Why are the buttons at the bottom of the Amortization tab not visible? Opening the "About..." dialog box in AprCalc causes the program to crash. Converting an AprCalc 2.2 file causes AprCalc 3.0 to crash. Converting any previous-version APR file to AprCalc 3.0 causes the "First Payment Date to change". The Annual Subtotals dialog box displays the subtotals incorrectly. When I try to run AprCalc 3.0, I get this error message: "APRCALC.EXE file is linked to missing export MFC42DLL:6877". What does this mean, and how can I fix it?This message means that the MFC42.DLL file on your system is obsolete, which is not surprising since Microsoft can release several new versions in one year! The quickest fix for this is to simply click here to download the latest version (6.00.8447.0) of MFC42.DLL. It should be placed in the same directory that the APRCALC.EXE file is in; or, if you are comfortable doing so, you may rename the existing MFC42.DLL file on your system, and install this new version in its place. (The version of AprCalc that you download from this web site now includes MFC42.DLL so that this whole issue can be avoided in the future!) Back to TopWhen I try to run AprCalc, I don't get an error message, but the program doesn't run. What could be wrong? This problem can occur if the Microsoft "Common Controls" DLL (COMCTL32.DLL) is obsolete. The installation program will tell you if the DLL is obsolete, but will not prevent you from installing AprCalc anyway. To correct this problem, download and run the latest version of the file "401comupd.exe" from the Microsoft web site. Or, click here to download a version from our web site. IMPORTANT! Before you download and run "401comupd.exe", please read the following note from Microsoft carefully: "You can use the file 401comupd.exe to install Comctl32.dll (version 4.72.3611.1900) on Windows 95, Windows 98, and Windows NT 4.0. You cannot use 401comupd.exe for Windows 3.x, Windows for Workgroups 3.x, Windows NT 3.x, Windows 98 SE, or Windows 2000. Do not attempt to run 401comupd.exe on any system with Internet Explorer 5.x installed. You must install Service Pack 3 or later on Windows NT 4.0 before installing 401comupd.exe." Back to TopAfter I exit the installation program that displays any obsolete DLLs on my system, nothing happens! This has occurred only on certain Windows 95 systems, and we are currently working to determine the cause. (If this has happened to you, please send us a message so that we can investigate it.) In the meantime, the workaround is to rename the file IS.EX_ (in the directory you unZIPed APRCAL30.ZIP into) to IS.EXE, and then run that file. The installation will then proceed normally. (IS.EX_ is the actual Installation program; SETUP30.EXE is the program that displays obsolete DLLs, and then runs IS.EX_.) Back to TopWhen I try to replace my MFC42.DLL file with a newer version, I get the error message, "Cannot copy MFC42.DLL: There has been a sharing violation. The source or destination file may be in use." How can I correct this problem? This error is happening because there is a program running that is using that file (MFC42.DLL). To correct this error, make sure that all programs are exited, including programs on the "System Tray" (on the right side of the task bar) and any programs running in the background. Then try to copy the file again. If that doesn't work, you can boot Windows with the "Shift" key held down, and then try the copy again. As a last resort, boot your system to DOS, and do the copy from the DOS prompt. Back to TopWhy are the buttons at the bottom of the Amortization tab not visible? If your system is set up for a screen size of 640x480 or 800x600, and you cannot see the "Prepayments" or "Annual Subtotals" buttons at the bottom of the "Amortization" tab, you need to download the current version of AprCalc, which has corrected that bug. Back to TopThis problem was being caused by a bug in the Installation Kit, and was corrected on 7/26/99. If you enter any other Start Menu folder name, the Installation Kit partially ignores your entry, and so creates "shortcuts" on the Start Menu that point to nothing. To correct this problem, first uninstall AprCalc 3.0 (by using the "Add/Remove Programs" icon in the Windows Control Pane. Then, click here to download this latest, corrected version of the AprCalc ZIP file, from which you can re-install AprCalc We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Back to TopOpening the "About..." dialog box in AprCalc causes the program to crash. This bug only appears if you enter a very large amount of text in the "Customize AprCalc 3.0" dialog box.
